I feel privileged

As an emerging artist, I feel privileged to have been part of the Renew Australia program, which allowed me to showcase my abstract wood carvings and collaborate with other artists in the creation of thought-provoking and sustainable art. The program was a collaboration between Renew Australia, Melbourne Art Biennale (MAB), and the City of Melbourne (CoM), and it resulted in the creation of a sculpture gallery that features a range of natural materials, organic forms, earthy colors, and vibrant hues.

My primitive yet modern sculptures are inspired by the shapes and textures found in nature, and I work mainly with wood, stone, and metal. I enjoy the challenge of creating unique artwork that can be appreciated both indoors as part of interior design and outdoor spaces as site-specific sculpture. The Renew Australia program provided me with the opportunity to exhibit my sculptures alongside the work of other talented artists in a contemporary art setting, and to receive art commissions and appreciation from visitors and collectors.

The sculpture gallery is not just a place to display and sell art, but it also functions as an art installation and a community hub. The space has been carefully curated to create a dynamic and inspiring environment for visitors, and it has become a popular destination for art lovers, designers, and collectors. The program also facilitated the creation of public art, which adds to the cultural richness of the Docklands area and provides opportunities for artists to showcase their work to a broader audience.

The success of the Renew Australia program has been recognized by the wider art community, and the sculpture gallery has been included in various art fairs, art museums, and private art collections. The exposure and recognition that I have received as a result of my participation in the program have been invaluable, and I have been able to expand my practice and connect with other artists and art professionals.

The art world can be challenging for emerging artists, and initiatives like Renew Australia provide a much-needed platform for artists to showcase their work, connect with others, and contribute to the cultural enrichment of their cities. The program also provides opportunities for art appraisal, investment, valuation, and acquisition, as well as for art consulting, curating, and criticism. Art publications, blogs, and podcasts are also vital sources of information and inspiration for artists and art enthusiasts.

In conclusion, I encourage other artists to seek out similar opportunities in their communities, as they can provide a valuable stepping stone to a successful career in the arts. Programs like Renew Australia help to ensure that contemporary art and sculpture thrive and grow, and that the public can appreciate and engage with art in meaningful ways. I am grateful for the experience, and I look forward to continuing my journey as an artist and contributing to the cultural vibrancy of my city.
